Haiti Earthquake Relief
We are grateful to report that our mission partners with Kids Alive are actively engaged in providing support to the people of Haiti who have been injured, orphaned, or are now homeless because of this disaster. In addition to supplying much-needed resources to the relief efforts in Port au Prince, they are also preparing to receive some of the displaced children in their existing ministry locations.
Through conversations with Vic and Leslie Trautwein and John and Sally Breul, we have identified several very practical ways MVPC can work with Kids Alive to provide immediate relief and long-term support. We invite you to prayerfully consider how you can be a part of this.
- We have already disbursed $5,000 from our budget to help with the
immediate needs.
- We are taking an on-going special offering to further support Kids Alive
as they respond to the needs in Haiti. You may donate to this by writing
“Haiti Relief” on the memo line of your check or on your giving envelope.
- If you would like to donate personally or read more about the situation in
Haiti, please visit the Kids Alive website: http://www.kidsalive.org/haiti-relief/.
- We are sending two teams to serve in the DR this summer. This will
be a hands-on way to respond to their increased needs. Listed below is
more information on these trips.
- As we hear more about needed supplies, we will be able to send those
items with the teams this summer.
- Please pray for the people impacted by this disaster and those providing
support to them. Here are the specific requests that we have heard from
the Trautwein’s and the Breul’s: “Please pray for the Haitian children that
will be joining our Kids Alive family. They will be under extreme stress
having lost their families and homes. Pray that we are able to find house
parents who speak Creole and can help them through this tragedy. Pray
for their health and physical needs, and pray for God’s peace to touch
their hearts.”
Serve Kids Alive in the Dominican Republic – MVPC will sponsor 2 week-long summer trips to serve the children and missionaries of Kids Alive in the DR.
