“The Book of Isaiah: Proclaiming the Message”
Tuesdays, 9:30-11:30am, resumes January 10, 2012
Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, this is the Bible study for you. Each session begins with small groups discussing the week’s Scripture passage, followed by a large-group gathering to hear one of our team teachers explain and apply the Scripture says. Isaiah’s purpose is to call the nation of Judah back to God and tell them of God’s salvation through the Messiah. What a timely subject for our land here in Lamorinda! As we read Isaiah, we will imagine this strong man of God fearlessly proclaiming his message to us: return, repent, and be renewed. No prior Bible study knowledge/experience necessary. “Moms’ Council Book Club: What’s Your Story?”

Moms of all ages and stages gather for fellowship, prayer, discussion, learning, and laughter. This fall, join Moms’ Council Book Club as Siv Ricketts brings to life biblical characters who have some pretty interesting stories. We’ll share our own stories, bridging the gap between the present-day and those ancient of days, and learn that we’re not all that different from the folks we read about in the gilt-edged chapters of our Bibles. Jesus' own brother started out as a skeptic. See how one glimpse of the resurrected Savior turned an unbeliever into a disciple. Bible scholars compare James to the Prophet Amos. In other ways, James more closely resembles the Book of Proverbs than any other New Testament book. Topics in this study include: job, hardship, faith, reversal of fortunes for rich and poor, wisdom, gifts from above, single-mindedness, the dangers of the tongue, humility, and prayer.
