Local Mission Partners
- Bay Area Rescue Mission, Richmond
- The Bay Area Rescue Mission is the Bay Area’s largest provider of homeless services, including overnight lodging for up to 325 guests each night. They provide clothing, counsel, educational opportunities and 3500+ meals per day to their homeless guests and the community’s “near homeless” impoverished. Each service is given with God’s love and the gospel of Jesus Christ is shared at every opportunity.
- El Puente, Concord
- El Puente is a multiethnic serving community centered in the Monument Neighborhood of Concord, bringing lives and hearts together by sharing gifts and talents for the sake of the Kingdom.
- Harbor House, Oakland
- Harbor House is a multi-ethnic Christian non-profit organization located in the diverse and vibrant San Antonio community of Oakland. For 38 years and counting Harbor House has worked with the community to create opportunities for individuals and families to become self-sufficient. Harbor House envisions a day when the San Antonio community is a neighborhood transformed by Christ, where individuals and families are healthy in mind, body, and spirit, justice reigns, and we all reach God’s purposes in our lives.
- InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, St. Mary’s College, Moraga
- InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at St. Mary’s College seeks to reach students with the gospel and teach them how to live the gospel. Weekly Bible studies, large group gatherings and outreach events are offered to Christians and “not yet” Christians, bringing students into an experience with God and His Kingdom.
- Joni & Friends, Global
- Joni and Friends serves people affected by disabilities. JAF equips churches to include children and adults with disabilities; provides respite events; offers summer camps to families affected by disabilities; collects and delivers wheelchairs worldwide to persons in need; and delivers books and other materials to people in hospitals and convalescent homes.
- Primera Iglesia, Concord
- A mission outreach of the First Presbyterian Hispanic Church of Oakland, they minister to the growing Hispanic population along Monument Boulevard in Concord. Primera Iglesia’s goal is to be able to stand alone as an Hispanic church in the Concord area.
- Young Lives, Concord
- Young Lives is a branch of YoungLife International, an interdenominational Christian outreach organization committed to reaching adolescents for Christ. COCO Young Lives exists to offer hope to pregnant and parenting adolescents in central Contra Costa County. The hope we offer is the person of Jesus Chrhist who lovingly created and joyfully offers to redeem us all.
- Amor Ministries, Mexico
- Amor Ministries is a nonprofit Christian organization whose mission is to provide housing for the poor of Mexico while focusing on the needs of local churches. Amor arranges short-term mission trips; since 1980, groups have built over 7,000 homes and have helped build and expand over 100 churches, medical facilities, and schools. MVPC supports this ministry both financially and directly by sending high school students and adult leaders to their site outside of Tijuana, Mexico, every Spring Break.
- Dr. J & D Fwlr, Near East
- Dr. J is one of very few emergency medicine-trained doctors in this part of the world. He teaches locally and travels around the country training doctors, mentoring young faculty members, and advising officials on how to build better emergency departments. He and his wife are very active in a church that receives many local visitors, and they host many in their home from one of the growing local churches. They enjoy seeing God work in mighty ways in this predominantly Muslim country.
- Mossai Sanguma, Congo
- Mossai Sanguma was sponsored by MVPC at Fuller Seminary, where he received his Ph.D. Mossai returned to his native Congo and created a Christ-centered African leadership school. His goal is to produce more effective African leaders who are capable of breaking the cycle of corruption and violence that has been prevalent across central Africa for nearly 50 years.
- Kids Alive International, Dominican Republic
- Kids Alive International is dedicated to meeting the spiritual, physical, educational, and emotional needs of children who have no means of support. Through orphanages, schools, and care centers, children are raised to become contributing members of their own society and witnesses of Jesus to their own people. Kids Alive directs eight separate project sites in the DR and MVPC sends short-term mission trips to the DR each year.
- Near East School of Theology, Lebanon
- NEST is an inter-denominational Protestant theological seminary serving evangelical churches in the Middle East and Africa. The school provides undergraduate and graduate degree programs in theology and Christian education. Students have been trained from Lebanon, Syria, Sudan, Iran, Armenia, Germany and Ireland. Most students receive scholarships to complete their training.
- Novi Sad Theological College, Serbia
- After completing his PhD at Fuller Theological Seminary with MVPC’s sponsorship, Dr. Dimitrije Popadic and his family returned home to Serbia-Montenegro to establish this country’s first cross-denominational evangelical college. Novi Sad Theological College (NSTC) is committed to training leaders for multi-faceted Christian ministry in the Balkans. In addition to his responsibilities as Dean of NSTC, Dimitrije lectures around the country, nurturing fellow believers.
- Witnessing Ministries of Christ, India
- Twenty years ago Rev. Philip Prasad founded WMC and the Rural Presbyterian Church-India (RPC-I) to bring the Good News of Christ to India’s 150 million Dalit (Untouchable) people. Philip was born a Dalit, but came to know Christ through Presbyterian missionaries. With the Gospel of Christ as a foundation and God-given self-worth as a cornerstone, this ministry builds schools and seminaries, provides medical help, and fosters economic independence. Almost 1 million people have been affected by this ministry.
- Terry Martin, Western States Fellowship, Moraga
- As a missionary with Western States Fellowship, Terry Martin comes alongside women individually and in small groups, encouraging a deepening of their faith in God through mentoring, discipleship and spiritual direction. She leads retreats, workshops and groups in the practice of lectio divina, a way of listening to and digesting God’s Word.
