Membership Process

There are five steps to the MVPC Membership Process.

Step 1: Complete the Membership Application

The membership application consists of two parts: some general information (name, address, family, etc.) and a few questions regarding your church experience and faith to help us get to know you. It also registers you for Step 2, the membership class sessions. Once your application is complete, we will contact you regarding scheduling Step 3, your Elder Interview.

Fill out your membership application.

Step 2: Participate in Two Class Sessions

Over lunch on campus and dessert in a member’s home, you will continue getting to know others as you learn more about what it means to be a Christian, a Presbyterian and a church member. You must complete Step 1 before moving on to Step 2.

Fall 2018:
Sunday, September 30, 11 am-1 pm – on-campus lunch
Sunday, October 14, 7-8:30 pm – off-campus social

Step 3: Elder Interview

MVPC’s Session (Board of Ruling Elders) has the responsibility to interview each membership applicant for evidence of true commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and to living as His follower. This one-to-one meeting will also give you an opportunity to personally get to know a church leader and to ask any questions that haven’t been answered so far.

Step 4: Membership Welcome during worship

If after your Elder Interview you are recommended for membership, then during a worship service you will be asked to affirm the MVPC Membership Covenant and respond “I do” to the membership questions. If you have not been previously baptized, your baptism will take place during the same worship service.
