Reading The Bible In A Year Plan
Why read the Bible in a year?
- To develop a discipline of connecting with God everyday.
“The Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.” Isaiah 50:4
- To read and know God’s Word as foundational to Christian faith.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that all God’s people may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Four things will help you achieve this goal:
- Reading from a different part of the Bible each day maintains interest.
- Meeting weekly with an accountability partner or small group.
- Remembering that the goal is to simply read the whole Bible, not study it.
- Setting a regular time in your day to do the reading. Mornings seem to work well for most people.
Click here for the reading plan. You can share it with others or download it to your PDA.
You may find it useful to attach some blank paper for taking notes or you can keep a separate journal. You may also purchase the Bible for your PDA online at www.laridian.com. This is really helpful if you travel or have spare time between errands.
I want you to succeed in reading the Bible this year! If there is anything I can do to help, or if I can assist you in selecting and purchasing a Bible, please contact me. You will be so blessed both as you read and at the end of the year, knowing that you have read every word in this wonderful gift God has given us. In January 2009 my small group will host a crab feed to celebrate your success in reading the Bible in a year.
